The Neogenic Recombinator was a Human-developed scientific instrument used in the field of Neogenics, native to the Marvel Multiverse.
Typically developed by Farley Stillwell and Curt Connors at Empire State University, its purpose was to be able to use genetic manipulation to improve the human condition, by removing birth defects, curing disease, and regenerating lost limbs.
Instead, it was typically used by people villainously inclined to create Super-powered humans, as well as convert humans to entire different species. It proved to be a re-occuring issue for the Spider-Man of the realities it was found in, though it did often play a hand in his creation.
The Time Dilation Accelerator was another scientific instrument that brought Spider-Man much grief, though for entirely different reasons.
