Doctor John Pilgrim was a research scientist who dedicated his life to finding a cure for cancer in the One Chance Multiverse. Because of the nature of the One Chance Multiverse, Pilgrim only had a limited number of fates.
He almost always created the cure for cancer, E48K15, and it almost always caused the extinction of the Human race. He often had to choose between work and pleasure, remaining faithful, or giving up all hope.
He almost always lost his wife Penny Pilgrim, and often lost his daughter Molly.
As a result of this, he was often the last Human being on Earth before dying.
